Search the forum,
A silicone or polysiloxane is a polymer made up of siloxane (−R2Si−O−SiR2−, where R = organic group). They are typically colorless oils or rubber-like substances. Silicones are used in sealants, adhesives, lubricants, medicine, cooking utensils, thermal insulation, and electrical insulation. Some common forms include silicone oil, silicone grease, silicone rubber, silicone resin, and silicone caulk.

Hi
just a quick question. Just finish off a bath surround where they want a light grey grout and white silicone.
Would you still fill the gap with the grout where one wall meets the other wall around the bath and leave it like that or would you then apply the silicone on top or would that...
Hi, I had a new travertine bathroom and shower room installed last year and a lot of black mould has built up behind the (transparent) silicone where the tiles meet the shower tray and the bath in the showering area. I have unsuccessfully had a go at removing some of the silicone but it is...

I used it because the convex curve was discreet. I don't like the big...
Hi all. New here. I'm not a DIY person but I'm going to have a go at removing some grout (I bought a grout rake today) and either re-grouting, or using silicone. I've just spent a small fortune on my flat over the last few months, (kitchen, bathroom, central heating, windows, etc) with a new...

Hi,
I am proceeding (slowly) with my first tiling job.
Floor tiled, all walles tiled, floor grouted.
I am about to grout the walls (3 walls of 60x30 and 1 mosaic wall.)
However, it is a dormer room, so one wall is only shoulder height... and 2 side walls are 'diagonal' from shoulder height...
Hi i've started to tile my shower enclosure and at the tiles at the bottom next to the tray ive got a gap around 20mm. I've obviously messed up with the measurements as it was only meant to be around 10mm!
Is this gap too big to seal with silicone?
If so what would be the best course of action...

Do you guys always silicone around the basin pedestal on the floor like you would a toilet?
I've done it both ways and can't help thinking it looks better without. Discuss.
Hi all,
It's my first post and it may sound like a bit of a daft question but it is genuine. What did people use before they had silicone?
The reason I'm asking is that I've just got back from spending some time in Italy and, as well as loving food, football and women, Italians love tiles...
