Do I need to put a batten under the top of window recess edge so that tiles are easy to apply or is it easier to put trim on and then fit tiles? I am not keen on trim but have used it previously. Also this window would only have 3 tile trim edges which may look odd as one end of the window forms a corner with another wall. I prefer to use tiles overlapping slightly as this has given a better effect. I have never tackled over a window before as the only other bathroom I have fully tiled had no window just a fan so was much easier.

if I'm reading your question right and you want to support tile until adhesive has set, Aldi are selling some great telescopic props for about £6.50, got one myself and are really handy

Bit of a muddy question but if you are asking if you can tile above and inside the window - then yes - just support it as mentioned above until dry.

Feel free to tile to edges without a trim

Windows look great either WITHOUT a trim

Or just as nice WITH a trim

In this case the trim blends in with the tile choice.

PS Just so you can see whats going on with the window above then this shot is of that tiled window with a trim in close up.

The tile was supported until set. Then grouted

Thanks I hope they still have them. I'll be round there first thing tomorrow as there is one up the road.
