Waste - Hippo bags vs skips

To save hijacking Neales thread, has anyone used those Hippo bags that you buy at the DIY stores. Two sizes one ton and 1 1/2 ton,

Advantages
buy off the shelf
cheaper than a skip
put it in better positions on driveways etc
No lorry driving over your block paving
North East collector is friendly, none of this, too full or wrong material malarky
Keep it as long as you want, some skip hire companies charge per week

Disadvantages
sides of the bag need boards in to stop half a ton of tiles avalanching over the sides
don't hold as much as a midi skip does

General
You have to pay over the phone when you arrange collection
Bag must be within 4 mts of the road (hi ab used)
would use them again but will use skips for full refurbs due to the amount of rubbish

ive used them and happy with them

solves a whole load of issues on waste management

but im still with sir ramic on this

what is needed is a sensible cost effective way for a contractor to remove small amounts of waste from a customers house and dispose of it legally

it shouldnt be too much to ask

Look for a local rubbish collection service. Most areas have them, Man with Van etc, check their waste license and as long as they dont live in caravans and take it away for £3.50 you know they are a legitimate business.

tend to leave it to customers so on the odd job where i'm removing i can use the local dump

I leave all rubbished bagged up but if the customers carry the bags they will hold the bag close to there body and cut or broken tiles can pierce thru the bag, not good
