I have had a friend tile my kitchen in ceramic tiles and it was tiled on to plywood that was screwed down on to floor boards. They insisisted that they needed to put unibond glue on the ply wood before using unibond tile adhesivie (which said it was suitable for tiling ceramic tiles on to plywood) was used.

Some of the tiles appear to be moving and have not stuck. Can anyone suggest the reason for this and any remedy??

Many thanks in anticipation for your reply.

Hi Berti ,

1-When you say unibond glue, do you mean PVA? and did he use this as a primer?

2- How far appart where the screws when he scewed thy ply down?

3- How thick was the plywood?

will unibond glue not be pva?
and if i understand right you shouldn't prime with and tile upon PVA?

You are correct graham, never use pva as a primer ase it doesnt like moisture from the addy.

question for you....did they use screws to hold the ply down to floor or did he just use glue?Surely he used screws...please say yes!:mad2:
