Hi All, Just wondering if someone could answer this for me, when fitting fixings to a tiled wall i.e. towel rail, toilet roll holders etc how do you guys go about it, I have been told that you have to be careful when using rawlplugs as they can crack the tile when they start to expand when tightening the screw. So how do you guys do it?
Also, does anyone know where i can find a rawl plug size chart which will tell me what size screw to use with a particular plug and what size hole you would be likely to drill for a given plug.
Cheers🙂

The packet should tell you what size screws to use and what size holes to drill.
If you drill far enough , you should be able to push your plug just far enough in so it goes past the tile if you are worried about expansion 🙂

Get a few different sizes (red & brown) and various screws, practice on a brick.
don't forget to add the depth / thickness of your tile when you mark the drill bit, if when you put the rawlplug in the tiled wall it sticks fast, dont try to pull it out, the tile 'may' just come off or break... take a sharp chisel or stanley and cut the excess off & use a slightly smaller screw..(usually only possible if the screw is to be hidden)

DON'T use the hammer action on the drill when going thru the tile & DON'T use a power driver to drive the screws home to the tile..
After a few go's it will become second nature....honest🙂
