Quoting for a 20m2 floor with 16inch tiles in a reception area for a business.

Just wondering, I normally like to use slow setting adhesive - saves endless mixing, but in this situtation is it more typical to use rapidset so they can walk on it sooner?

Endless mixing ? depends on how fast you work really. I rarely use slow set these days and rarely have problems unless its really hot in the building.
Are they going to be using the reception while you are working? Are you happy with that and are they going to be happy with the noise you make?
How many times do you think the floor will get stepped on before the adhesive sets...hmmmmmm

maybe do on weekend when no one there. If its a business wont there be regulations for health and safety or fire regarding access? could be a night job!!

Confirmed, same here in Germany. Usually those areas can be restricted for 24 hours, this must be sufficiant as the hotel owners and users don´t like any disturbance (look and quitness) in the reception area. That´s why 24 hours is normally the maximum area restriction time and therefore rapid set adhesives and rapid set grouting is normal.

Using rapidset if perfect for floors really, as long as you work quick enough so you don't end up with a soild bucket still over half full

Hey fella.

No need to turn the job down, use rapid set, i didn't realise that people used slow setting!

This is one of those jobs where you can earn a mint. You'll have to start late afternoon i would imagine, get it down the first evening then will bo ok for light foot traffic the next day, next evening grout and job done.

I did a job like this myself a couple of weeks ago and earned £570 for 15 hours work. You can't turn jobs like this down!
