Hi folks not been on for a while but neerd some advice. I have had to sand back some limestone but am now faced wiyth trying to polish to make it look like it should do. :ave worked up to 1500 grit paper but stone still seems pale and you can see the circular marks from the polisher. Should I use a cutting compound and if so which one. Any help appreciated.

If you can still see scratch marks this means you have not down graded correctly, i.e youve used a coarser grade and those marks are still in the stone.i would suggest you use your grades for a longer period of time when each scratch grade has thinnered out change grades .
Even if you polish down to 1500 those higher grades of scratching will show through ,then over a period of time the dirt will enhance the scratches and will look terrible to the eye.

Also is the grit paper you have used suitable for use with stone..?.

Is it a full polish or semi..?

Hi tel only a few corners here and there.

The important thing when you are repolishing stone is to remember that after the most coarse grit (The grit you start with) always polish twice as long with the next grit and then examine the area prior to moving on to the next grit. So for example if it requires something like a 100 grit diamond or paper to get rid of the problem and you do it for say 3 minutes then you need to go on with 200 grit for 6 minutes and then check the stone because you have to get any scratching out at this stage, if you don't you will not get it out at any later stage with finer grits.
