Just thought I'd post a few pics of what I've been up to today in case anybody else has this problem:thumbsup:
I'm doing a job where the builder had fitted the Impey tray flush with the wayrock (chipboard) flooring:mad2:
Obviously I'm not going to tile the wayrock, so had installed Hardie backerboard over this and stopped at the edge of the tray
This left me with an 8mm step up in height from the surface of the tray to the top of the HBB:thumbsdown:
To get over this I cleaned the joint between the tray and the wayrock thoroughly with my fein, then completely sealed the junction with neutral curing sealant. Once the sealant was dry I then installed a 150mm strip of RIW Tilesafe to the perimeter of the tray (adhered in accordance with the RIW installation leaflet)
This strip of Tilesafe was to act as a suitable base to screed up from
I then feathered down from the surface of the HBB to the edge of the strip of Tilesafe with Porcelflex SPF tile adhesive.
Once this is dry tomorrow, I will completely tank over the whole tray and onto the HBB:thumbsup:
Height problem solved:smilewinkgrin:

Ok, all screeding bone dry and floor/walls primed and dry:thumbsup:

First - internal corner fitted.

Then the 150mm Tilesafe 'tape' installed to all wall floor junctions, half on the floor and half up the wall. I have also installed a 400mm strip on the wall and overlapping the tape on this photo.

I then installed the floor tanking, pre-cut to length and with the gully hole cut out (approx Diameter 100mm), this is stuck and flattened to the floor at the rate of approx. 200mm at a time whilst carefully removing the brown cover paper from the underside as I went - luckily no air bubbles with this one:thumbsup: I then dressed the membrane into the floor gully.

Once fully dressed and adhered to the gully, I filled the channel between the tanking and the gully inner ring with the Impey Jointing Compound provided and fixed the gully membrane clamp down into this firmly and tooled off the excess jointing compound.

Once the remaining 400mm strip of membrane had been fitted to the walls I began to seal all the joints with the jointing compound and tool it off to provide a good firm seal.

All done now, but I must wait until tomorrow before I can tile, as the jointing compound must be fully cured (24hrs).

Nice one Kev, did you forget the skim of rapid flex. You will be stuck to that tomorrow:lol: keep your mobile phone with you so you can ring the fire brigade:thumbsup: I can see the headlines now "Tiler stuck to shower tray"

:lol::lol:
No mate, it says you cant touch that jointing compound with tile adhesive for 24hrs:mad2:
So have left it till first thing in the morning when I'll do our little trick:thumbsup:

Here's another little tip I learnt from a very wise man:thumbsup:

Once the tanking is down, peel back the release film and coat the membrane with a skim of single part flexible adhesive using the flat side of your serator:smilewinkgrin: It saves all sorts of tantrums when attempting to fix tiles to the stickiest floor base you've ever come across:lol:
