Good afternoon guys ( and girls )
After a few weeks of 'watching, looking, and laughing,' its time for me to join in.......

As a competant DIY'r, and getting paid off as an Engineer next month, am seriously considering going down the " 2 or 3 week course - labouring - learning " route. Under no illusions, and expecting tough times ahead, but am a 'born grafter' and will succeed..............

Look forward to chatting with you all, but unfortunately will be more of a taker than a giver :yikes:, for now anyway !

Hi & welcome to TF mate. Your just along the road from me (well, bout 15 mile lol)

Is tiling the game you want to be in or are you looking to be able to put your hands to most things?

Thanks for the welcome Bubblecraft.

The answer is a " Heart V's Head " one....... My heart wants me to be 'Scotlands No.1 Tiler', but my head is telling me ' whatever puts a loaf on the table' :)

Am thinking of a 3 week course - 2 weeks tiling and 1 week 'Bathroom fitting ( venue still to be decided - inputs welcome :) ) Willing to do anything though.......

Well good luck mate in your new venture. Just mind that a 2 week course on tiling is the very stripped backed basics. Every job is completely different. Best to tag along with someone who has been tiling for many years & pick up as many hints & tips as you can. There's a lot to learn & if anything goes wrong in tiling, it can be very costly and dangerous.

Welcome along,
The tiling game is tough at the moment but there is still money to be made. Keep up on the forum as you will learn a hell of a lot from the lads on here.
We learn all the time, I'm a newcomer, I've only been at it 8/9 years.
