Been wondering if there is a big difference in quality/looks in natural stone depending on where it origanates from or where it is made into tiles. for example if a travertene tile originally came from UK would it be better/worse than italy. Does the UK produce good natural stone tiles. :8:

The slate from the Kirkstone quarry in the lakes is maybe englands best, don't know where else it is quarried in this country:huh2:

Them welsh guys in the north have some good slate too dont you know now boyo

Uk limestones and sandstones are out there but expensive.

The majority of Belgian blue stone out there comes from Ireland lol

Travertine - depends on the density of the bed they are working, the denser the bed the better the quality. Romao is top gear from italy also Turkey has a couple of good producers plus USA (yellow stone park is travertine with grass on). Oh Peru to

Limestone - Mostly Portugal, Germany some lovely Chinese stuff to be had

What you need to realise is there are few stones but lots of finishes, you may be faced with 4 different named and looking stones that came out of the same quarry.
