got my first job to do for a b&q recommended kitchen fitter on wednesday.discussed prices over the phone.cant believe b&q charge what they do during these tough times.what would you lot charge for a standard 4m kitchen splashback with 20 x 10 metro?no window. i was thinking £150ish,a days work but hes offered me £240.apparantly b&q charge a minimum of 5m regardless even if its only 1m. surprised at that

a family member is a manager in the fitting side of things and i have seen the prices they pay for everthing down to installing a bath pannel. They pay fitter £30m2 ceramic anything under 300mm and over 100mm2. anything over 300 or under 100 considered "specialist tiling" £47m2. metros are considered "specialist" if in brick bond(which they usually are)
I did some work for a b&q fitter, a bad one at that..... 6mm ply, new plastered walls propper coyboy. They only supply trav and dont do much more stone. the amount they charge the customer is allmost double what they pay!!!
i decided not to do any more work for that fitter as the work he was doing was unacceptable in my book.
he was under investigation for shoddy workmanship last i heard. glad i got out while i could. there has been quite a few customer complaints on here about shoddy workmanship.....the prices they pay; corners dont need to be cut pure greed.
if I could charge what they did i would only have to work 6 months of the year.

The minimum pricing they charge I think is a good idea as a splashback can be alot of work even though it might only be 3-4m2. depending how many sockets/switches ect. They pay that so tilers shouldn't have to rush to make a crust.
