I did a job for a girl on an estate like you mention, she bred staffordshire bull terriers, the house was smelly, the carpets were a bit sticky and there were nicotine stains on the ceilings, I have not taken work for people like her often because I really did not need to...........but.............. she offered me a cup of tea in a reasonably clean cup, she was pleasant and talkative and she opened a drawer with about 3k in cash from puppy dog sales, showing me the money was not needed, I took the job because I know people in the same situation, was there myself some years back, there are good and bad in all walks of life, I have not had a none payer yet but I have had plenty of people with pools and games rooms and 6 bedrooms that try it on, she paid in cash and insisted on a fifty tip, the reason for the tip was because she had had 3 other tilers that had failed to turn up.

Did something similar for a woman who bred boxers, luckily she didn't offer me a cuppa whilst I was there. Between the dogs barking and her shouting at them to shut up all day long I couldn't get away quick enough.

Did one where the couple had 4 dogs - a Malamute (big Husky type thing), collie, bulldog and a new staffy which kept crapping on the kitchen floor I had recently laid, walking in it and then getting out into the hall where I was laying cream tiles - at least I have no sense of smell and the bloke would clean it up for me!

I did one where I walked into the house (or kinda tip toed over the mess)...Into the kitchen to do the measuring up for a back splash...the woman said 'sorry about the mess we just moved in!' (heard that one before) anyway stuck in a high quote and they accepted..

Anyway on my return guess what ...the friggin mess was still all over the place...she hadnt bothered to clean the countertops or anything (I wont tell you what was sticking on em)....luckily she never asked me if I wanted a cuppa!...I wiped down the countertops before and after work...with my sponge and told her to make sure she wipes it with disinfectant..next day I walk in you know she hasnt done it!

I also had to wear a mask to tile behind the cooker as it was so thick with grease the smell was making me gag...

Also the counter top was 5cms out from one end to the other! all the cuts I hid under the top cupboards but she said it didnt matter as most of the tiling would be hidden anyway ...:stunned:
