Merry Christmas from TilersForums.com What a weird year we’ve had! We will need to keep our wits about us during these next couple of months, but I think we’re near the end of it all and at a place where we just live with it. London Christmas Tree feels the same as every single person in the UK. Tired and Scraggy. 5 Days to go until the big man climbs down the chimney. I hope you’ve all got your Christmas presents sorted out. You’ve almost certainly had some extra time off to go shopping. That said, we’re classed as essential workers. So things should have been a bit normal. I know that wouldn’t have been the case, but ‘normal’ doesn’t mean the same as it did in December 2019. That poor “Patient Zero” who got on the plane to go...
Just read this morning that norcros are closing down after it has been decided it is no longer profitable to run. 70 people set to lose jobs which is a shame. They were told yesterday at the Stoke-on-Trent factory.
I've had a wet room fitted. The tiler has left a crack in a tile near the drain of shower. He tells us it's intentional to help water drain down. Can anyone confirm if this is true?

TilersForums.com has been online since 2006 and we've had many designs, even three forum software makes, so three porting over of all content from one maker to another. Then several updates. Even tackled DDOS attacks which took us offline for a while every Friday night. The sods. Here we are near the end of 2021 and we're still the biggest forum by any metric you use. We have the most posts, threads, registered active members, registered members in general (that's a much larger number mind due to our age), the most unregistered readers. That is still around 85% of our traffic - they Google something, find us, print it or forward it via whatsapp or send it to their tiler or tile supplier etc, then perhaps a small percentage of those...
uHeat and TilersForums.com go Way Back - And Continue to Partner-up to Bring You Savings on Electric and Water Underfloor Heating Quite some time ago the founder of TilersForums.com ran a tiling training centre in Staffordshire, and sold electric underfloor heating there, mainly to the course delegates once leaving the courses. A split of the company occurred and Dan took the underfloor heating side, and left the tiling courses behind. As electric underfloor heating was still new, it was early noughties and tiling to wood was only carried out by the daring and experienced, electric under tiles?! - People were unsure. The couple of big brands that were in the tile sheds were charging a fortune retail, and giving no incentives to the...
Bedrock Tiles are proud to announce some seriously climate, complimenting news that we have achieved a status of becoming the first company in the UK tiling industry to be certified as Carbon Neutral. During the week of COP26 in Glasgow, this couldn’t have been completed at a better time than now, especially whilst we have everyone’s attention focused on sustainability. The process for becoming certified is quite intense, thorough and not for the weak hearted! It took us three months to collate and present all the data to the auditing company for scopes 1, 2 and 3. It then took a further 3 weeks for that data to be analysed and reported back to us. It has been calculated that Bedrock Tiles omit 52 tonnes of Carbon whilst conducting...
I received an email about BAL External tile adhesive and grout this morning and thought I'd post it to our tiling news area of the forum because there isn't much actual tiling news in here. But if you're looking for workwear you're on a winner. :D :D (no offence to our awesome sponsor @BulkWorkwear - it's just this area isn't getting much tile stuff posted to it and that's my bad I guess) BAL External Tiling with BAL Adhesive and Grout BAL Priming Slurry Bond for BAL External Tiling - a flexible slurry priming coat for bonding external pavers and tiles. Fast and simple to use – only requires mixing with water Provides excellent bonding strength between base and pavers or tiles Excellent coverage of 8m2 at 2mm thickness Brush...
MANY PEOPLE THINK THAT P.V.A. IS OK AS A PRIMER ON WALLS AND FLOORS SO I THOUGHT THAT I WOULD LET YOU SEE THIS " LINK " AND HOPEFULLY IT WILL ENLIGHTEN SOME NEWCOMERS OR EVEN EXPERIANCED TILERS AS WHY NOT TO PRIME SUBSTRATES WITH P.V.A. INSTEAD OF PRIMERS.........DAVE..... P.S. I always prime with primers and this will show you why!!!!!!! PVA - Why you shouldn't use it as a tiling primer I have to give guarantees for my work (many of these projects are commercial such as sports centre showers and changing rooms). For me to be able to give guarantees I need to follow strictly the specification of the adhesive manufacturers. Ardex, BAL and Nicobond are the three suppliers I use most. Their products are similar in many...

I'm toying around with some of the colours around the site to make it easier to read and keep the content obvious. TilersForums.com Version 35 maybe? Been messing with forums for a while now and always tend to want to mess with the colours and things, even when it feels finished (it's never really finished there are always updates to be had). So done a bit of that today. We want the tiling news to stand out when people are reading it. So it's white background / black font. As is the most clearest of reading proven time and time again. Dark backgrounds cause issues with styling usually. I'm running a few test WordPress sites that have forums on them and they don't half make them vulnerable to attacks. Script-kiddies lurking will...
We must have thousands of images in threads that aren't shown in the media area. I've now 'mirrored' them so that you can view them from the media area too. When you're viewing an image, you can either comment on it there, or click the link to visit the thread the image originates from, and join in the discussion there. Simply click Media > UK Tiling Forum Videos and Images > Then the type of media you're looking for > then click on an image or video

Man gets fined for traveling from Sheffield to Stoke to buy tile adhesive. Note that you can buy adhesive online from our sponsors and get it delivered right to your door. A man has been fined after travelling 50 miles from Sheffield to Stoke-on-Trent - to buy tile adhesive. The man, aged 23, was hit with a £200 fine for breaking lockdown rules after he was stopped by police on Old Town Road, in Hanley. Two other men ran from the scene. Staffordshire Police reported the incident happened on February 11. The man, thought to be in his 30's is said to have tiled his bathroom during lockdown and ran out of tile adhesive and his local tile outlet was closed due to a staff member being in contact with somebody who was identified as...
Use the tab in the top right corner of each main forum category to minimise that area. You can always turn it back on again if you're looking for a certain forum and can't find it. Note that when you do this, it does NOT hide the posts from the 'Whats New' page. It literally just helps you scroll up and down the main homepage easier. :)
Welcome to the new style TilersForums.com. Newish anyway. I've spent a while upgrading ElectriciansForums.net, then PlumbersForums.net, then to come over to TilersForums.com and do the same thing here. We're rocking the same awesome forum software but it comes with lots of minor changes. You'll see as you browse around there might be different text-input styles, more features in those styles etc. We've got Giphy support, which might prove a pain in the arse but it might be alright. Time will tell. TilersForums.com Update I'll keep you posted with any further changes and customisations. Give us a shout in reply to this if you find any bugs or notice anything missing.
Alternative to The Tile Association (TTA)? We have no alternative to The Tile Association do we? So tiling is apparently only done to spec if you're a TTA member. "Or some other association". https://www.tilersforums.com/threads/bs-5385-part-1-2018-tiling-standards.89734/ So I'm wondering what options we have. Seems a bit unfair for the tiler to only have one option. Nobody is there to ensure they're not overpricing on their services if they have no competition. So I'm wondering if we could help get one going that runs as a no-profit perhaps? Just by way of advertising it etc, I wouldn't be involved in anything at all do do with it. Oorrrrrr perhaps there is something, maybe some bathroom association or something that we can latch...
