The main idea behind a one coat tanking paste was to help speed the drying times so tiling can begin sooner. The old tanking paste was a three coat system, prime, paste and paste again taking up to six hours before you could tile. The new system is approximately three hours. If you are someone who prefers to prime, carry on doing so as this will not affect the bond strength of the paste. We have found in testing that applying the tanking paste with a sponge roller or a block/shed brush will give the best results. If you do get a few thinner patches, as long as there is a thin coating there it will still hold the moisture back. [/QUOTE]
