I attended the Kilndex stone polishing and restoration course run by Amir Patwa today and just wanted to say a big thank you to him and his assistant for putting on this free days training.
Amir is a really nice guy with a great sense of humour and explained the basics of marble and stone repairs and re-polishing using wet and dry hand held polishers, its hands on and you get the opportunity to repair some broken pieces of marble and bring them up to a factory finish polish
In the afternoon he demonstrated lippage and stock removal with hard pads and carborundum blocks and re-polished a bush hammered piece of granite using diamond pads on a klindex machine and demonstrated dry polishing and cristalisation of marble and limestone and wet polishing of marble he gives you the opportunity to us the machines and takes time to explain the basics ,it was a lot to take in and the guys who attended ranged from complete novices through to professional stone restoration guys who work for a well known restoration firm.
I would recommend this free course to any one who works with stone and tiles and will definitely be attending some of their other courses in the future

Perhaps post it to a blog or forum you guys run and link to it rather than bringing this forum into it? Perhaps even make a thread just for it, rather than responding to this one too?

Not sure I'd want the forum being dragged between two firms like that though. It only annoys members on either side of the story at the cost of the forum.

I'm lost. I don't get what's going on here at all????

An inappropriate comment about Marble Tony was made on another forum (not here). I did read it and thought it inappropriate.

The author of the comment is the chap referred to in Gary's post, running the polishing courses.

The owner of the other forum saw fit to edit the offending post and point out that's just not cricket (publicly).

So a little bit of decency restored without anyone resorting to keyboard warrior status, which is nice to see for change.

So nothing to see here - move along now please.

I will leave these guys to give there honest feedback but again a big thank you To Amir for giving his valuable time and wealth of experience for this free training course:thumbsup:
