Day rate consumables

What is the general consensus when it comes to what is classed as consumables when doing jobs on day rate?

Everything that it consumed on the job, apart from my lunch.
You've paid for drills, cutting discs, spacers etc,etc. You should even make allowances for all the tools you use as they will need maintenance/replacement at some point.

Ive never put spacers or sponges on an invoice yet, charge for clips though and if I needed a particular size hole saw especially for that job or a specialist blade it would go on the bill..

No, just wanted a general feel for what everyone thinks is reasonable to charge extra for as consumables when working on a day rate..

In my experience, primer is never provided when adhesive etc is being provided

If you are on a day rate charge everything or if its getting complicated give them a shopping list .

If I was on a day rate, I'd agree to add extras at the end.
500 clips / grout / silicone - anything extra stuck on at the end.

Seems too messy to add to the day rate as a percentage.

Fixed price labour reasonably high to cover myself if job runs over a couple of days and estimated materials...i charge for every last screw and baby wipe +20%.

Just list it in your invoice as 'Sundry items'. All those little things add up to more than what you would expect.

Sponges, microfibre cloths, screws, drill bits (inc. diamond bits), primer, fiber tape, gaffa tape, blades for your knife, blades for your scraper, baby wipes (for wiping off silicone), rubbish bags, batteries, marker pens, pencils, bits for your multitool, latex gloves.
