Firstly can I say a massive thanks to Ray and Gary (and a few others whose names I don't know!) for putting this day on for us. I personally found it to be very informative and very worth while attending. It was great to get hands on with the cutting and fitting of these tiles just to see how they were to work with, I can honestly say I would be 100% confident fitting these tiles if and when the chance arises.

It it was nice to meet a few forum members and see some old faces from Phil Hobson's birthday, sorry to Mark (Whitebeam) for not having a clue who you were  I hope some of you have some pics because I didn't take any as I was too busy showing Deano how to tile

Once again, thanks for the day Ray and Gary, also thanks for the freebies

I've moved this post into this thread, I hope you don't mind. The other thread is huge and I didn't want it to get lost in nearly 200 posts.

Re: training day for fixing cutting large thin format tiles

hello all, got back from rays shop a little while ago, and wanted to say what a great day it was. would definitely feel ok about working with the large format thin tiles after today, as the training was pretty comprehensive, and ray is highly knowledgeable about his subject. in fact some of the tips today are going to be a big help for my tiling generally, not just for the porcel thin tiles . also great to meet up with some of you on here as well, not sure about the rest of you, but i only ever meet the other trades on site so it's fantastic to meet up with other tilers. if this day is run again i would highly recommend to others, as these tiles look to me like the could be a big thing in tiling in the coming years. anyway, would also like to say a big thanks to ray and his team for making the day happen, and all the others there for making it such a great day. cheers and all the best. john

The Legend; Phil Hobson RIP

Thanks Ray, Gary, and everyone involved, good to meet some new faces from TF and some old Friends.

The hospitality was second to none, the training spot on, I didn't do any fixing as I have fixed enough tiles in my time.

I was happy to be a spectator and enjoy watching some fine fixers work with these tiles of the future. A big thanks for the freebies, I never expected that, a real good day.

I was the old guy with the daft hair cut and glasses, sorry we were late, never got a name tag.

Thanks to Andy Carroll and son and Mrs Andy Carroll for booking the trains, the drop off /pick up, thanks to my mate Steve AKA Ozboz for the lift back to the train station.

These days are vital for our trade, if we stand still we stagnate and never move with the times.

So again thanks for the day.

Would like to add my thanks to Ray, Gary and the team for a great day. Proper hands on, using the product. Still can't believe how well it cuts. Came away with a confidence in recommending and fitting the product. Also learnt a few new things. Came away with a new cutter too. It is the simplest bit of kit I have ever seen, that can scribe a 1800mm tile.
great also to meet most of the core members on the forum. Even better to find that we all seem perfectly normal! .
all in a very good weekend.

thanks again Ray.

That quote from you Phil just sums it up for me,
You as a tiler have forgotten more than most of us know when it comes to our trade & still you go on days like these as you want to keep at the top of your game & keep evolving.
Me & Deano had a good yap on the way up the road & I for one take my hat off to you Phil & if I can be as half as good as you then I would have done well..
An absolute pleasure to meet you & hope to meet you again.
Keep fighting & keep that chin up..
