Hi wondering if anyone can help ive tiled the passage, i bought some 12mm ply and screwed it down to the floorboards i then tiled directly onto the ply with ceramic 333/333 using mapei flexible adhesive i checked this morning and some have set and others havent ive had to pull them back up and the adhesive is like moist sand so ive scraped it off mixed up some more and re layed them is this the correct way of going about it the adhesive is taking ages to dry ive had the the front door open all day to help dry it quicker i hope it sets overnight as its becoming a headache now thanks

Although not recommended to tile onto plywood, it sounds like a combination of the plywood and ceramic tiles drawing out moisture from the adhesive too quick. Was the plywood primed first? And what type of adhesive was used?

Guessing it was a standard set adhesive? If the floor was solid and the plywood primed and really well screwed down. A cement based adhesive should stick to it pretty good. I usually wipe the back of ceramic tiles with a damp sponge just before I back butter and bed them. Maybe the adhesive needed longer to set?

Yes it was a standard set m8 im hoping they will set i usually just put adhesive on the back of the tile and lay them but when i re layed them i also put adhesive on the plywood too with a notch spread so fingers crossed there bond together
