Hello there ~ we had a new bathroom fitted last week ~ and can report another porcelain tile impregnated with grout dust and what have you problem. When searching the net for a solution (as nothing we tried will get rid of the staining) we came across this site ~ and stickers on the boxes of tiles indicating that they should have been sealed before laying and grouting. So, with the advice on this site we’ve just ordered LITHOFIN ABRA-CLEAN, some CEMENT-AWAY and PROTECTIVE IMPREGNATOR.
Could you help out with some advice? The grouting the fitter has used on the floor tiles is crumbly, looks generally rubbish and needs replacing. (The walls aren’t much better but at least the rubbish grout distracts you from the crooked tiles).
We’re going to have a crack at digging out the grout on the floor tiles and replacing it. So, our question is ~ should we clean the tiles, seal them and then try and remove the grout? Or, should we take on replacing the grout first and then clean and seal the tiles and re-grout?
Oh, could you recommend a good charcoal coloured grout too?
Thanks very much.
