Hi All,

We moved into our new property in November and are experiencing something that I have never seen before...

There are several areas in our new bathroom, where the grout has gone really dark and never seems to dissappear. Moreover, everytime you run your finger of the grout / surrounding silicone you can feel an oily / wet layer over the top and it never seems to dissappear.

At first I thought it may just ben where we step out of the bath, as the areas of concern were originally underneath the bathmat but I have noticed it high up in the corner of the bathoom as well and really not sure what to make of it.

Any advice / insight would be greatly appreciated!

Ross

They've clearly wiped the excess silicone with a cloth /wipe, over the grout where they've gone a bit wild with the silicone, I can tell this because in picture #1 there is still remnants of heavy silicone even above the PUBE, which you obviously left in the picture for scale. removing the excess silicone but leaving the residues in places.
Raking the grout alone will not make this right!
Tell the contractor to remove the silicone, then regrout, then silicone again.
Silicone will bond to grout, grout will not bond to silicone 👌
But tidy up before they come, because neither grout nor silicone will bond to big black pubes!
