45 degree herringbone

Hi all.in a 45 degree herringbone when you get to a corner is it best to use those cuts to wrap around the new wall and should they butt up to each other or should I leave a gap.i am an amateur tilers and looking to make a feature out of my fireplace.no more than 2 square meters.
