Arrows on back of porcelain tiles

I've found (on 60x60 in particular) that the tiles have a very slight curve into the corners. I always thought that this happened in production either by pressing or firing in a kiln. if you lay the tiles with arrows all facing the same way then they've all been pressed/fired in same direction...

    Basalt Sealing

Might be a little late on this one but I am currently laying over 200msq of basalt.... i have sealed around 90msq so far with Lithofin stainstop. This is what I have always used and so far I don't seem to have any problems? However this is not a wet area. I have a further 100 odd msq outside on...

    Tiling to Blockwork.

Just a quick one. Has anyone ever been asked to tile to blockwork before and if so what was the outcome? When i say blockwork i mean concrete block wall. Not aerated blocks or brickwork. My initial thoughts were it would need rendered but is this is avoidable? Many thanks.

    Screed board.

The website (thanks whitebeam/google!) suggests it is suitable to take tiles. However, it doesn't say if a decoupler is needed. I was hoping someone may have had first hand experience of laying on these boards. Thanks for all your replies.

    Screed board.

Evenin' all. Did a site visit today for a job coming up. First floor of this house (newly built) has piped underfloor heating with a grey, tongue and groove, cement board type thing on top. It's called "screed board" and I ain't never seen it before. The spec is for ditra on top of this but I...

    New screed meets UFH

Well that was what i thought as well. So if i told you a builder was screeding a conservatory today with a view to laying the heating cables on Monday and latex on Tuesday.... Seriously. There is a guaranteed failure but what will actually happen? Many thanks.

    New screed meets UFH

Hello all. just a quick question. How long is it advisable to leave a 75mm sand/cement screed before installing electric heating cables and latex? Thanks in advance.

Small Holes in Top of Replica Flagstones

Trimline Innovation - Home This is where i get my various stone resins from. They come in White, Straw etc. these can be mixed to get a match to the flags. They come with an hardener. With marble these resins are allowed to cure then polished back. Cant say ive ever come across these replicas...

Small Holes in Top of Replica Flagstones

If "they" are saying air bubbles are normal then maybe "they" should have pointed this out before you bought this stuff. Either way you are left with a floor that doesnt look how you wanted. My only positive contribution to this would be to suggest a resin filler to match replica.

    How high is too high?

More details to follow.... Get to see it on Monday. If the wall hasn't yet been finished I will specify a wedi style finish. I know schluter do a formable board for curves think that would do the job. I will take some photos on Monday. Thanks for all your interest and advise so far.

    How high is too high?

OK sketchy details so far but thought I would put it out there anyway. Looking at a job on Monday which has a lot of tiling in it. The most interesting part is a stairwell from basement to upper floors which I believe is curved. Client and architect want the entire wall wrapped in stone. It is...

    Help - Tiles falling off

Hi Pastiemac. Might be worth giving the tiles a light back butter ie. spreading adhesive on back of tile with flat side of notched trowel. It sounds like they havent bonded to the adhesive correctly which could indicate a contaminent (dust etc.) Butter them up and bed them in.
