duck tape, hot glue gun, etc

hi,
one final question if i may please. can i get away with duck tape or do i need the hot glue gun (i am trying to keep the costs down!). have bought the SLC and tile adhesive today. getting the multimeter tomorrow from argos.

I use both sometimes........duct tape for matting lumps etc..and glue gun to stick the thermo stat tube down...both have their good use's...

I use duct tape, and a sparky mate of mine use hot glue guns. A matter of preference imo, and many manufacturers even send along tape in their ufh kits.

As long as the wire is held down properly, and the tape isn't wide enough to cause bubbles in the SLC, it's ok in my book.

could you please explain this as i'm unsure of the correct way to put the tape down. i was going to use 50mm wide duct tape. would this be ok?

I'd use 10-15mm wide tape. I'm pretty certain air can get caught under the tape when you pour the slc if it's too wide. You simply take a strip about 5 cm long, or which seems to be sufficiently long, and tape the wire down. The wire shouldn't "rise" anywhere, so you probably need to space the tape fairly tightly, ie 10-20cm or so, depending on the wire.
