Discuss Advice needed on Glass Brick Mosaics safety in the Canada Tile Advice area at TilersForums.com.

Hi all,
I'm due to install Fired Earth glass mosaics (*££!!) and am a bit nervous about safety as not done delicate glass before and see issues with exposed edges. They are paper fronted and looks a nightmare cutting such delicate sheets on my bridge saw, keeping the sheets dry so they don't fall to bits.

How would you finish internal corners, butt them together or insist on use of trim? (customer not keen). As they are in brick 'bond' with half brick overlap on each row, I thought of tiling up to the corner, overlap where I can and cut short tiles to infill gaps. Really concerned about leaving sharp edges - might have to rub down every cut edge with glasspaper!

Am I being worried for no reason?

Thanks in advance, hope this makes sense.

Hey Andy
I feel your concern, I hate glass mosaics at the best of times, tricky little mothers. I can only suggest experimenting with different cutting methods. The last time I did them I dry scored them and cut with a nibbler. If you have an angle grinder there is a rotary pad you can fit with different diamond grade pads that make rubbing down a bit easier. Also rather than trim you might consider 45 mitre edges. this will take a bit of time and you need to make the customer aware.
Looking at the date of this post I might be a bit late with this advice. Let us know how you got on in the end.
Joe
