Are short course providers diluting the tiling trade.?

I did the short course to get into this industry and I think the short courses probably are bad for the trade but, when I finished the the course I didn't think I would be able to earn 40k a year, I knew I had loads to learn, I knew I would be slow, I knew I'd not make much money at first, and I...

Hi all, not been on the forum for a while, thankfully been really busy, hope everyone else is doing well. Reason for this thread is to ask if anyone knows of any course you can do in floor screeding and about all different types of floor screeds etc. I feel confident screeding small floors but...

How much business has tilersforums.co.uk got you over the years?

In terms of direct jobs off forum I would say none although I have directed customers to this website when quoting just to try and prove my point and show I'm no cowboy. That has helped get the job. The reason I have a website now is because of this forum and that has got me loads of jobs...

    Travertine outside?

Hi all, A mate of mine wants his outside step tiling and is really keen on travertine. Do you think it will be ok outside, I'm not sure and said I'd find out. I would have thought its a bit soft to last outside, is it ok with high grade trav? Your thoughts appreciated, cheers.

Getting started in the tiling game....

I'm into my 4th year now mate and tiling is very rewarding but also tough when starting out. Be prepared to work long hours for not a lot of money at first. You have to price by M2 on most jobs and current rates are quite low so if your not fast you won't make loads. DON'T let that make you...

    Gave me a laugh

only just read this post and i must admit i think it would be wrong to bad mouth this guy on a review site. It seems he gave an honest opinion on what he would want to do and how much it will cost. I am good mates with a guy who runs his own company fiting wood burners/gas fires/ flues etc. I...

    probably wont suprise you.

I explained everything to him, why it cost 300 quid. I told him about using flexi addy and grout etc etc. I always do that on quotes and as above I've won jobs when not the cheapest. My point on this though is the fact guys are charging 15quid a m2. If everyone stuck to their guns and kept...

    VERY hard tiles

Not contacted supplier, I know the TS isn't the best but the Montolit usually cuts anything, I've done loads of porcelain jobs with the TS no probs though, these really are rock hard, hardest porcelain I've ever used.

    VERY hard tiles

Currently tiling a bathroom with porcelain tiles made by a company called Peronda and my TS60 plus just can't cut these tiles, is there a different scoring wheel I can get which might help me? I've even borrowed my mates Montolit off him and that can't cut them without breaking the tiles. Anyone...
