I think your floor could fail eventually if it's creaking, keep an eye on the tile that is above the creaking, if the grout starts cracking then you know that's the start of the failure.

I thought that may be the case, don't really fancy this job to be honest, wish i'd seen it from the beginning, would have done things differently.

I would put tile backer board on the floorboards and self levelling on the concrete to the same height as your backer board.

I know this is an old thread but thought i'd mention this: If your original "tiler" didn't tank the shower tray, did he tank the walls? Keep an eye on those if i were you.

Looked at job yesterday, plumber has installed Impey Aquadec for customer but hasn't tanked it, i have tiled a few of these but have never had to install them, do i have to use the Aquadec sticky tanking system or can anything else be used? Also there are gaps around the tray where it meets the...

I use Ultra levelling compound a lot and think that is a good product, would be interested to know what their boards are like, i normally use Marmox but can be annoying if you only want a couple of boards and you have to order several.

I recommend Mapei ultracolour, good range of grey shades and it's good for small joints. I normally use the cement grey for victorian floors.
