I'm starting a hall on Monday 2.5 x 7.5m. Will be laying herringbone pattern like attached pic. Hall was originally 2 rooms, now knocked into one, 2/3 is tiled, rest is wood flooring on solid floor. Levels are not great, where tiled part meets kitchen the last 400mm or so slopes up 25mm to meet...
Does anyone have one of these? For £118 it looks very good. Always used table wet saws, wondered how this type works, ie do you
clamp tile to workbench and run saw along it? How does this compare with traditional wet saw........
i have a feature wall to do in an en-suite using these tiles
broken link removed
They are 800 sq, 15mm deep and weigh 40kg psm. The wall was skim plastered on breeze block, I have battened it with 40mm timber at 300 intervals using rawlplugs and will board with 12.5 mm marmox, which will be as...
I am doing an en-suite, 10mm thick 600x300 ceramic tiles onto partly painted very flat skim plaster on solid walls. Tiles + adh = 30kg psm
Is it ok to mechanically fix 6mm marmox to walls. Part of it will be tanked with Mapeigum.
I regularly fit inset mirrors, building up wall with hardibacker and using glazing adhesive/silicone, but usually in cloakrooms. I need to fit 2 in a wet-room/ensuite and think a demister pad would be good in this situation. My question is, how good a grip can i get with the demister pad between...
Wonder if anyone has experience of long setting times recently or if I have a bad batch of keraquick...
Fixed a layer of durabase ci with adhesive yesterday evening, to aid adhesion I placed 2 floor tiles at several places round the edges.
When i removed tiles this morning adhesive still wet...
I am fitting a new en-suite/wet room for a customer who has requested a linear drain with a straightforward single gradient so no tile cuts in the shower floor. The most appropriate product I can see is the Maxxus Wedge-Dec. Has anyone used this and have they any advice on its installation?
My...
Doing 3 rooms in apartment block, all have carpet on lino tiles on bitumen on concrete.
Planned to remove as much bitumen as poss using heat gun + scraper, sugar soap clean then slurry coat 50/50 SBR/rapidset flex (mapei/tile giant proflexible).
Problem is 2 rooms have a 180mm strip of ply which...
Went to Ideal Home show yesterday. One of the official stage demos was this guy promoting some tiling tools.
The tiletracker looks excellent but at £160 way, way too expensive. I intend to make up something similar which would do the same thing unless anyone knows of a similar product at...

Got a small kitchen floor to do. Existing is karndean/amtico on solid floor. Anyone taken this up before, any advice on removing the vinyl adhesive underneath? At least the floor below will be smooth....
Have a 1400 x 900 wet room to do over concrete floor. Plan to mix strong fiberplan slc mix and create the straight 20mm fall over the 900 width. Then use sheet membrane cut into a linear channel drain. is this feasible, any thing to watch out for, apart from ensuring fall is regular?
Friend is building his own house, concrete floors, yet to have wet ufh and 50mm screed.
To avoid waiting the 'day per mm' to lay floor tiles, is it simply a matter of a de-coupling membrane?
Also, the ufh will be incorporated in the c/h circuit so impossible to control the temp as you would...
Just glued'n'screwed 6mm hardie onto 12mm ply with keraquick, now home for breakfast.......... how long do i have to leave before walking on/tiling over?
Cheers.........
At last, a customer who's happy to have small format ceramics on her walls. It's so long since I did one that I don't know what Mapei product is best/cheapest....... Bathroom with shower bath (will tank and use cement based powder for wet area) but what is best product for the rest please??
Cheers.
I've done a slurry coat over bitumen before but forget the ratio, I used rapidset flexible mixed with water as usual but then added SBR. Can anyone remind me of the mix and would it be the same using Keraquick?
Thanks in advance.
