Which cutter for 9mm riven porcelain 300x600 tiles

For electric cutter, I always advise anyone into DIY to use an angle grinder, then buy a Marcrist CK850 115mm tile cutting disc. That will eat porcelain, and your can use the angle grinder for cutting metal, stone, brick, concrete - and its very easy to cut straight to a marked line. If you...

Which cutter for 9mm riven porcelain 300x600 tiles

Whilst the sigma is certainly a better cutter, both may require more than one pass with the cutting wheel on riven tiles. But bear in mind you may not get it right until you practice on a couple of tiles first. Everyone here who does tiling for a living will tell you that experience comes from...

    Sigma Stock Crisis

Best tile cutter I have ever used. Rubi TS30. Absolutely superb build quality. Beautiful cutting action, and its used for nearly every kitchen splashback. I know it cant cut porcelain cleanly, but there is still plenty of tiles it will cut. A pleasure to carry a small case, fit cutter on...

    Sigma Stock Crisis

Lol @ all the replies. I have been debating about buying a 1200 instead of renting. Got stuffed again this week - customer decided to go with 900x300 instead of 600x300's previously discussed! Ended up wet cutting for the long cuts... So whilst searching for best deals, I was intrigued at how...

    Sigma Stock Crisis

Anyone know why Sigma is out of stock everywhere at the moment? I know you Sigma guys believe its because everyone buys them, but that doesn't explain why they don't just manufacture more cutters.

    Tile cutters needed!

I suffered theft of an angle grinder and Multi drill (£600 with all the bits in the case) - lifted off the back of my van 6 years ago. Since then all my vans have had high security slam locks fitted - now u need to cut the van panels to get in without a key. Its a bitter lesson to learn. Hope...

    Dedra Tile Cutters

Just picked up an email for this: The 1200mm cutter was advertised for £197.50 inc vat! (600 cutter was £80) Has anyone had any experience of using these? After looking for an occasional 1200 cutter for oversize porcs, this seemed quite attractive.

    Tile cutters needed!

As Dan said, best short term answer is hiring. My main tile retailer (Tileflair) is usually first choice for hiring (about £10/day). Otherwise its into a shop like CTD to buy new off the shelf. Second hand can be found on eBay, but it wont be ready tomorrow.

    Wet cutter

For me the Nd200 is difficult to beat. Mine is now 5 years old and with nearly daily use for 5 years it has proved exceptional value. I used a Vitrex before, and it disintegrated within 18 months with no spares or repairs possible.

    tile patterns

I think most multi tile sets are designed to work to what retailers refer to as an "Opus" pattern. It depends on how many different sizes you have but generally a 3 tile pattern is called Opus, and a 4 tile pattern is called a Grand Opus. There are even some 5 tile versions. Here is a link to...

    ditra mat or not?

Never heard of D-Matt before that last post. Checked spec and it quotes "no tile failure until total rupture of membrane." I note that Ditra spec states "Crack bridging ability 1.5mm." Anyone tell us more about the two products? After all they almost identical and seem to adopt the same...

Check out the feedback for Redbacks

Swapped to Redbacks about a month ago after using Alpro for last 4 years. Best thing about them is that I never kneel on anything at work without them - that makes them 100% more effective than those fitted over trousers. Also impressed with no knee problems since swapping. Negative side of...
