Wood burning stove chamber - Tile Advice

What's the best option when Tiling the inside chamber for a wood burning stove , providing that the stove has the minimum gap between finished wall and stove , is it Best to overboard with hardie , multiboard or just direct to render ? Don't want any cracked porcelain tiles ? Thanks

I’ve only done 2 and they were onto thermal boards that the fire place people fitted. I’d go straight onto primed render if it’s flat enough

No more ply Is safe to use if you need

I'd go onto render first & Hardie second.

The render is far better than boards.
