What tool to use for cutting trim mitres - Tile Advice

Hi all. I hope you are keeping well. Need a bit of advice on which tool is best to cut the mitres on metal trim. Can you get a good blade for an angle grinder or is there not enough control with this? I don't have a small chop saw, only a big sliding mitre saw which a blade would be very expensive I believe.

I just use a standard hacksaw with hss blade in and a mitre box. The thing is with grinders etc as you say is stability and the risk of kick back.

Well, I must admit, I was not expecting that as a recommendation. Old school. Rhing with me is I have never been able to cut a good mitre using a mitre box for some reason. And hacksaws I am useless at cutting in the direction I want.

I use a file to dress the mitres if required, the genesis mitre box is perfect for holding trims.

a good thin angle grinder disc is ideal. Battery grinders are easier to work with as they aren't as aggressive. There is a knack to it so you don't get a kick back but you'll get it eventually. A hacksaw and good block still gets me by but if you need a fraction cutting off to give you a perfect mitre you'll struggle. There's always place for a metal file in these situations plus you'll need one for removing tiny burs on the edges.
