Is their any tried and trusted methods that don't involve lots of elbow grease , scrapers , heat guns and grinders to remove the vinyl / Lino residue? It's 36 m2 so trying to make it easy as possible ! Ardex NA is also not an option due to cost !

I dont think you will find a cheap method. Years ago we did a similar job and we were supplied with a solvent from a flooring company which softened the residue but still need scraping off. Not sure if something like that is still available.

A tiler with 30 years experience in the trade , said I should brush a few bags of dry rapid set dust over the floor , leave it for a day to absorb in, and tile the next day! Any thoughts on this??
