Afternoon

Have a friend who has asked whether it is ok to tile over vinyl tiles.
From what I can understand they are the 1' square ones commonly used in the 60's with (i'm guessing) the bituminous adhesive.
Can you use a gritty primer or is it best to take them up?
If taken up I would obviously advise to scrape up as much as the adhesive as poss but will a gritty primer suffice?

Many thanks

You want to check whether they contain any asbestos before your scraping the old tiles up.

If there stuck well you can tile over. The asbestos content is tiny I beleive.

Any of the gritty primers, prime plus grip by Tilemaster for me
