Tiling onto painted plasterboard - Tile Advice

Hi guys,

So, I've been asked to tile a wall that has been painted directly onto plasterboard, no skim coats, just straight onto board. There are at least 3-4 layers of matt emulsion paint on this wall.
What is the best way to do this?

I've read about stripping off the paint but that'll mean going back to the board where I could and would most likely peel off the paper and end up having to replace the plasterboard.

Would scratching up the wall and giving it a good key be good enough or is this job a no go?

Also, SBR over PVA correct? If that is an option.
Oh and the tiles to be used are 200 x 100mm trentie tiles with 2mm spacers. Area is Kitchen wall. It is a divider walk between two rooms so has some movement in it. Is BAL wall tile adhesive ok for this or do I need a more flexi adhesive?

Scratch it up with some rough sandpaper, prime with sbr. (not pva, which is for children to make papier mache) and is never to be used in any tiling scenario.
And just for fear, use a flexible slowset adhesive, which you mix yourself, and a flexible grout, fairly unproblematic job mate, don't worry about it 👍🏻

Don’t apply the primer neat , water down 4:1.
