Hi folks,
Is it possible to tile straight onto a masonry emulsion painted wall. The render and skim on the wall is sound. I am asking with regards to above my kitchen worktop and around a shower

Thanks in advance
Jim

The paint needs removing Jim, try a wet sponge and scraper, or if that doesn't work 50 grit sandpaper...
What size/type of tiles?

Square edge plastic in the colour of your choice (personally try and go similar to grout) is easiest to cut and mitre..stainless looks better imo but plastic a bit easier, call into your tile supplier and see what they have in stock..

Square edge why didnt i think of that, for years i have been using the round over stuff which has always been a pain and never looks right. Does the square edge go over the tile or does it but up to it?

Have been advised to use SBR on the walls prior to tile what you reckon? Whats the best https://www.tilersforums.com/forums/tile-adhesive/ for tile on masonry?

Fit trim flush with tile..
https://www.tilersforums.com/forums/tile-adhesive/ wise, would always recommend a slow setting cement based bagged https://www.tilersforums.com/forums/tile-adhesive/,.. I haven't used it for years, but in theory with those size tiles you could get away with a reputable brand of thin bedded ready mix bucket https://www.tilersforums.com/forums/tile-adhesive/..leave 24 hours before grouting..
Good luck with your project.
