I understand and totally see where you are coming from, it's only after he fitted the plywood where I was doubting whether it was correct as it was quite flimsy, however as he's screwed it down every 150mm it seems pretty solid. But having said that from what I've been told here and researching its wrong :(
Plywood is no longer advised or recognised for British Standards..

S1 https://www.tilersforums.com/forums/tile-adhesive/ is all about the deformability of the https://www.tilersforums.com/forums/tile-adhesive/.. that will flex all day long, but a tile doesn’t bend or flex at all.. if the floor has movement then the tiles will tent or pop

if the prep isn’t done properly then you have problems down the line..

the concrete would need priming but as long as clean and solid and dry it’s fine to tile onto

I spoke to the manufacturer of the Multi-pro Tile Backer regarding priming of the boards, they advised to use an acrylic based primer

Called BAL technical support who advised BAL bond SBR is not an acrylic primer and suggested BAL APD primer!

Is there a big difference between the two products? As we already have a bal bond sbr, will there be a disadvantage by using this instead?

You will need to dilute the SBR at 1 part sbr to 2 parts water.. that will make it like APD neat

however it will take longer to dry, about 2 hours

APD will dry in about 15 minutes..

mad you’ve already got the SBR just dilute it 1:2 and you’re good to go👍👍

Managed to return the bal bond sbr they didn't have apd but recommended weber PR360

Any thoughts on the weber primer?

Also the tile https://www.tilersforums.com/forums/tile-adhesive/ they advised an S1 would be sufficient I personally thought S2 given that its a timber suspended floor

The tile https://www.tilersforums.com/forums/tile-adhesive/ purchased is BAL flex one they only had white in stock, is it just a difference in colour between the grey and white https://www.tilersforums.com/forums/tile-adhesive/?

Thoughts on both products would be appreciated, I want to make sure what I purchase is correct and the best :)

Bal flex one isn’t an S2 it’s an S1 but is an awesome product.. you will be fine with an S1 Bal don’t do grey anymore, thats what the One stands for, one colour.. it’s like an slightly off white but all their products are now this colour.. Pourable-one, rapid flex-one etc primer is primer, as long as it’s acrylic you’ll be fine however I’ve not used the Weber so just check drying times etc as long as the floor is solid and no movement you’ll be good with what you have👍

The tiles were purchased from CTD they are the Bortolo Grey Gloss Tile 600x600x9.5mm

As its for the kitchen/diner floor we've gone for 4mm spacers, looking for opinions will that be ok? Or should we go smaller or higher?

CTD advised these particular tiles do not need to be sealed, but is it recommended that i seal them?
