Still Mapei for me, but I am using Tilemaster more and more, I could have done with two votes.

Norcros, but this is mainly down to subcontracting to a large firm in N Wales who stock nothing else. If I'm doing the spec myself I tend to go with Ultra powders. First used it over 10 years ago now, yet to have any issues, can't say the same for Norcros unfortunately.

interesting to see how this is poll is going.
talking about uk market only and correct me if i am wrong.
for me i think it is a given that ardex/bal were the old school very well known and accepted quality product but came at a price.
mapei were late comers in the market here but massive in the world and all quality.
weber came earlier than mapei with a quality product but well after bal and ardex.
weber started cheap and have slowly lifted their prices .
mapei from world reputation came in higher than weber did when they started and interested to know what price difference is between mapei and weber .
when you know you have a good product that is user friendly it immediately goes to bottom line of cost saving.
of course you have to factor in yield per sq mt which may close the gap between the old boys and the younger ones .
so then there are the others.
i have chopped and changed between 4 of these over the last 6 years and all seemed ok until i started to notice problems as did others on forum.
I changed last year to one of the newer manufacturers as i think many others have and at this point in time there is only one stand out alone runner coming from back of field to the fore.
must bea reason for this .
i just hope that prices will not rise too much as a result but ineveitably will as need for higher technology and premises, customer care etcc comes in to play.
its getting a decent product at a decent price that makes a winner . canyt see myself changing anytime soon

i don´t know how the prices going in UK but in germany its going to get absurd.
for example my favourite thick and middle bed https://www.tilersforums.com/forums/tile-adhesive/ for natural stone the ardex X32: 25 kg list price: 55,- euro plus 20% tax. (!!!!)
how crazy is that? what is it? is it cement with platinium dust?
if the trend goes on maby anytime we change back to cement/sand and tell the people if they can wait 14 days before grouting they save a lot of money for the flow screed and the utopic https://www.tilersforums.com/forums/tile-adhesive/.

i always buy my https://www.tilersforums.com/forums/tile-adhesive/ on full euro pallets. so i always have 3 diffrent types of https://www.tilersforums.com/forums/tile-adhesive/ in stock. but this means over 3000,- euro invest on season start. wtf.

so much do you actually pay for x32 per 25 kg bag before the tax after you get a discount for buying full euro pallet.
I can then try and compare what we pay for equivalent in uk.There will obviously need to be an adjustment for different weight of bags , so can compare like for like.
things will obviously have changed since
the times 20 years ago when for some bizarre reason I was doing a few marble jobs in Switzerland for wealthy uk bankers and mates .
but back then ardex was king and freely available in builders merchants at a reasonable rate for me as an non account customer compared with uk.
i guess and only guess that having lived in Germany who are so correct about all things technical that there are not too many new comers in the market that are easily accepted .

I also think raine that for the most part you do bespoke bathrooms that don't involve big sq mts where you do the prep and thereby your coverage per sq mt per bag is good.
i also do bathrooms but also a lot of big floor areas and I can say categorically that I would reckon to use on average I bag x 20 kg for solid bed coverage of 2.25 sq mtsts. I am not talking a big notch ,we bed each tile individually .average bed @ 6mm.
I have done tests on ardex for yield per kg per sq mt and they have always been good.
