Some sparkies have the clip-on version that makes android phones do the same thing, from what I can tell.

They can then view where cables are in walls, and where faults are in consumer units etc, because of the slight temperature change.

don't buy one unless you have confirmation it'll work with your phone. I have one of these. Bought it and it worked fine on my old phone but as soon as I upgraded it stopped. We have 4 android phones in the house and it doesn't work with any of them. I bought it a couple of years back and it has sat in a drawer for 12 months...
