Hi everyone
Quick question, I'm about to tank the walls in my bathroom, around the bath / shower area, they are skimmed plasterboard, and I was planning to use ultra tilefix proshield tanking kit, as it states it doesn't require primer, thus I believe making it quicker to complete the task. My question is, have any of you used this kit before, and if so what are your thoughts on it; and would this be ok to use in conjunction with mapei tile https://www.tilersforums.com/forums/tile-adhesive/, as that is what my tiler suggest I purchase for him; or any other https://www.tilersforums.com/forums/tile-adhesive/? I can't ask him personally as he's on an extended holiday abroad at present, and I'd like to get the tanking completed before he gets back.

How old is the plaster and what tiles are going up?
The plaster is not newly skimmed, it's probably 20yrs old but seems very sound, I've attached a picture ( if it comes through ) of the largest area and the others areas are the same, It had been tiled over before, when I took the tiles off ( which came off easily) it was just plaster underneath, there didn't seem to be any form of tanking previously done. I've steamed and scraped off what little https://www.tilersforums.com/forums/tile-adhesive/ that was left on the walls, and filled any imperfections with a good quality filler, then I sanded them and washed them down; all this was done about 8 months ago, and my tiler who is a very experienced has looked at the job and said the walls are good to go after they've been tanked.
I'm still as yet unsure what tiles will be used as my blooming mrs can't make up her mind.
What I do know though is that they won't be large format tiles, and they wont be slate or stone tiles either; I believe it's got be 20kg per m2 on skimmed plaster board, is this correct.
