Hi, I hope someone can advise please?
I am due to waterproof a shower with a Mapei kit. The manufacturer of the recessed control/mixer state a slot about 60 mm in backer board/tiles is required to access the cartridges for maintenance etc. My point is the whole shower will be tanked yet water could get in behind the chrome cover plate! The chrome plate has no gaskets, it is siliconed on by the plumber when he second fixes. Is this just one of those things?

2nd part of question: Do you gum the taped joints only or apply gum to all of the Hardibacker?

Many thanks in advance

Rich
