well we are a multicultural country now and not just christian.,
it not ecological to much power wasted lights/cooking.,
its a waste of money/to commercialized.,
should we recognize the fact that we have lots of other religions in our country now and call it midwinter- break whats your thoughts!!!

Dave,

I'm OK with Christmas and Easter staying as part of the yearly events, as it suits a lot of people.

I'm also OK with the major Jewish holidays and Muslim holidays that are observed and effect day-to-day events (at least in my multicultural area where I live) during other times of the year.

Has Kwanza gotten started in the UK? (This is a serious question)

Dave, I'm not exactly sure Kwanza is. But it sounds like it isn't going on in the UK if you haven't heard of it. It is some made-up holiday that was started 30 or 40 years ago by a professor at a university (I think this is the case). Let me find a link to read.

i did hear that paganism is now the fastest growing religion in Britain now

Here you go Dave:

The Official Kwanzaa Web Site - Kwanzaa African American Celebration of Family, Community and Culture by Maulana Karenga

This professor created this religion or celebration or whatever it is, and says it's an "African thing". The goofy thing is that the Africans I have talked to (and there are a lot here in the DC area) all mock Kwanza.

I was wondering if it had gotten adopted in other countries. They now recognize Kwanza here in the public schools with equal footing with Christmas, Hanukuh, and so on.

nice one rob, thats news to me,i expect we will be on it over here soon then mate, what ever you guys do first usaly ends up over here later cheers for that!!!
