Wowee, :hurray: some of you have seen my friend and mentor Saad Romany Mikhaiel's work, but after his first ever exhibition in May in the Cairo Opera House the response still continues, he was interviewed by Reuters not long ago, and this paper just brought out a great article about him... Wow!!! He's my friend he is!! I am so chuffed... you can click on the second image for a slide show of just a couple of examples of his work....

The portraits take 3-4 months, the Queen which is almost life size took 2 years .... He wanted to do the Queen because the dress was such a challenge.... I know... my mind boggled, too... and when you look at each tiny bit of glass that makes up the dress and the arm and lining shining through from underneath, well, all you can do is just stare and shake your head in wonder at it all,
it's simply stunning.

Found this pic Gisella for those that haven't seen it

Hi gisella, I did a google image search for saad and found this page,
OnlineWeblibrary blog

Ah... the image is actually included in the slide show on the newspaper site, (click play under the second photo of Saad in his studio) I was just wondering... god the internet, eh....really made the world so much smaller :cool3:

I LOVE the Lighthouse, don't you? Really, to see all these pieces for real and touch them, feel the glass and the smoothness of it all, just amazing... and depending on then light and where you stand, the reflections are really something... and the eyes of the portraits do follow you around the room, like they do with the best oil paintings................

You'll have to organise an exhibition over here G,

Yes, it WILL happen... the logistics aren't so easy, some of his pieces are huge, the cost of transport, etc etc... but we talk about it all the time, and everything starts with a thought.....
