What's the best way to remove in order to retile the floor phrase?

My son's new house is an escalating Victorian nightmare right now.

We've just found quarry tiles under vinyl flooring, but most are very broken, some with deep chunks out so not at all salvageable like we hoped.

Have seen one scary post that suggests quarry tiles will mean there's no sub floor or damp proofing (no idea what a sub floor is btw)

All work being diy'd in the main as his savings went into buying the house and the homebuyers report didn't pick up any of the (numerous) problems we are finding.

it doesn’t necessarily mean there is no sub floor ( concrete ) underneath. The only way it to pull a small section and look.
Could you not put a liquid dpm down and self level over the top?

This sounds doable reading it ... Is this a relatively easy thing to do?
He's new to the DIY lark ☺️

If the quarry tiles are sound and solid, then yes a liquid dpm and smoothing compound can be applied. Have a look On @ISOMAT UK and they will be happy to help.
What size is the area?

It's about 3m². But a lot of the quarry tiles are really broken up with deep chunks out of them.

I've had a look at the website, but found that a tad confusing, so I'll phone then when everything is open again.

Thanks.
