Hi,

I'm currently working on a bathroom and have stripped the walls back to brickwork with lime mortar. For the shower area my plan is to dot and dab 20mm Jackoboard onto the brickwork with Mapei Keraquick before tiling. Does the brickwork need priming for the Keraquick? I understand PVA shouldn't be used with cement based adhesives so if it does need priming what product should I use?

Thanks,

Oscar

Yes needs priming so use an acrylic based primer. Best to use Mapei primer g if using keraquick. Once gone off I’d recommend screwing (+jackoboard washers). If you’ve got the space I’d opt for battening out and screwing to that rather than sticking to block work with adhesive.

Hi Macten, sorry for the slow response and thanks for your reply, I've gone for Primer G and it seems to have worked well for binding all the dusty mortar together leaving a clean surface for the adhesive. Going to stick with D&Ding the Keraquick as I haven't got the space for battening the wall out. Thanks again for the help.
