Please help fix my wetroom floor issue - Tile Advice

First off, thank you to everyone that posts on this forum, although this is only my second post, the advice I have picked up from reading others has been invaluable.

On to my error. I have discovered rather late in the build process that my floor is not perfectly level, I did check it but clearly didn’t realise that not perfect equates to about 10mm out over 2m. The big problem is that the high end is where I have placed my drain. My floor is built up of 20mm tiler backer board (expanded core) with a 1200 wedgeboard dropping to a linear drain. The fall on the wedgeboard should be 12mm over the length, but due to the floor being out is only 4mm.

Pulling the floor up is not a possibility as I have already boarded out the entire room and glued down the drain etc. The only way I can think to correct this is to SLC the floor to the start of the wedgeboard and then create the correct fall from the SLC to the drain using something like tile adhesive.

Is this the correct approach, and is tile adhesive the correct thing to use?

If so, should I tank (Ardex WPC), SLC and create fall, lay Vario Pro/heating cable (already bought) and tile. Or I could tank after SLC?

Or

Vario Pro/heating cable, SLC and create fall, tank and tile?

Or a completely different method?!

Any advice would be much appreciated.

What is under the 20mm board?

Ply between beams. So the room is upstairs. Boards have been adhesive and screwed down with correct washers.

Pic is a bit old with the boards just dry fitted and the walls not all boarded out but shows the layout.

So I am thinking to SLC the area in red and then rebuild the correct fall from the SLC to the drain in blue

It may be cheaper to stick a layer of 10mm boards over that area

Are you having underfloor heating? If you are then SLC if not then another layer of boards cross bonded

Yes, there will be under floor heating. Both overboarding and SLC leave me with the same issue regarding increasing the angle of the fall to the drain. I could simply correct this with tile adhesive but am unsure if this is the correct method?

Bit of a dilemma there coops SLC is normally used to correct uneven floors or floors in poor condition before adding the final floor finish.

Yeah, it is abit of a pain to decide on the best course of action to correct.

I think the best way is to correct it before the Vario and UFH is laid as this will mean i still get a even covering above the UFH and the Vario will be laid at the correct fall under the shower meaning that if any water manages to make it that far down it will get directed to the drain.

I am leaning towards overboarding as it will just add additional insulation and I can tank over the top as per normal. If I do this would you use tile adhesive between the layer of boards or just screw directly down on top of the already laid boards?

If I increase the fall to the drain using tile adhesive can I then tank over the top of this along with the rest of the floor?

I know it mt be little late into your project but have you consider using a pre-formed shower tray with the falls already in it then adjust your floor level to suit the tray afterwards

Hi Andy, I did consider it but I wanted a simple linear fall to an infinity drain. Even if I had used a former to do this I would still be in the same situation now unless I had levelled the floor beforehand.

Sadly I am too far in now and need to correct from this point

Is it a possibility you could adhere ditra matting to gain just enough height and feather it in with bal rapid set. Obviously giving the backer board a good primer first
