I think this is news-worthy, it's not often we change the actual structure of pages. Even during the domain name change, and software upgrade, all threads and posts have the same links/URL's to them.

So this is fairly big.

I've just changed the hompage layout, so now it's a bunch of helpful places the forum has. So people who aren't used to the forum don't need to dig around to find them.

Check it out.

If you are on a mobile, perhaps put your phone sideways on (landscape view) so you can see the width of it properly and things move back to where they are supposed to be - mobile views change the shape and size of everything so you're not getting the full amount of content on the page.

Of course, doesn't matter what device you use, the forum layout should look spot on for you. :)

Feedback welcome. :)

This means however, that the homepage of the forum is now TilersForums.com/forums

But that's okay. Easy enough to remember. :) Although you can just click 'Forums' in the main menu whilst you're on any page of the website.

Some handy areas on there are the directory listings, the tiling work that's posted to the forum bit, and the tiling courses area. All handy pages to have.

Sorry Dan, but for me it's not an improvement.

I like the the list of post in time order, high lighted for not read and lighter for read. Can't find anything now.

Example, this post, read post and clicked your link looked around and had no idea how to find this post again to read again and comment. Thank god for the back button, hit 6 times.

Need more work 🤔🙈

Agree , I don't like it disappearing after I read it as I may want to comment but after I finished doing something or after I've had a bit of time to think about it .

That's just the unread posts bit showing for you individually then. I can change that. That's the good thing about it.

We have to be careful not to encroach on what the 'Whats New' tab is there for. That will always show you the new posts and threads combined. The homepage is a list of only new threads (or should be - might need tweaking) in order of when they were posted. Regardless of which one was replied to last, or which ones you've read etc.
Post automatically merged:

Edit: @JulianSidney @jcrtiling

The 'Whats New' page now shows 15 threads at the top, regardless of whether you have read them or not. So you can get back to them if you need to. :)

The homepage is still in order of the time the thread has been posted. So, think of it like a news website or something. It's listing all threads in order of their first post time. :)

I've just enabled this block on all forums. You're right in saying it needs to be somewhere. But the homepage would make it confusing for visitors not used to the forum etc. It needs to be static and time-based rather than which thread a particular person has seen.

The awesome thing is, both the homepage and the whatsnew tab are both dynamic, so I can customise them ongoing and find the sweet spot eventually. Nothing works well the first time I guess lol

Also - Do this.....

Click Whats New
Click New Posts in the sub-menu

Then click the little filter bit....

You control quite a bit of the content you see with that button. You can also scroll across that menu and find new content for other areas of the forum as a whole too. :)

You’ve put the stone and thin tile categories together again, never really got my head around that tbh.
Personally I’d rather see a specialist tiling forum with things like stone, mosaic, glass tile and thin porcelain added as prefixes,

Well, I can't rest for long. I've changed the colour scheme a bit. Orange-it-up. :D

You've been tango'd.
