Hi All,

Appreciate the wealth of knowledge on here, so i would like to ask for some input on the below new build currently underway.

3 Wetrooms - 1 Ground Floor - 2 on 1st floor. Both very similar setup's.

GroundFloor
  • Floor - Basse struture is concrete Raft foundation with 180mm PIR inulsation (100mm +80mm) - 65mm Liquid-Screed with with UFH pipes throughout.
  • Wetroom area - Currently just have one single layer of 100mm PIR insulation on top of the raft with the UFH pipes running through the wetroom area to have a heated floor.
  • Walls, Sand & Cement (Floated with light scratch / key) - shower area left not skimmed.
  • Central trapped shower gullies set within the insulation and the waste pipework strapped to the raft floor.

First Floor
  • Floor - Base structure is Hollowcre with 75mm PIR Insulation and 55mm Liquid Screed with UFH pipes throughout.
  • Wetroom areas- Currently 75mm PIR insulation exposed with UFH pipes running through the wetroom area to have heated floor.
  • Walls, Sand & Cement (Floated with light scratch / key) - shower area left not skimmed.
  • Central trapped shower gullies set within the insulation and the waste pipework strapped to the hollow-core floor.

I have never tanked a wetroom before, I am quite decent at a some tiling and have completed quite a bit of the house construction myself thus far.

With the UFH pipes within the wetroom area, I think my only option is to use a sand & cement screed to create the drainage slope/fall.

With my setup, what would be my best option to tank, seal, prime these area ahead of tiling.
Any one see anything that would raise alarm bells ?

Muc happreciated,
Tom
