Hello everyone

I'm about to tile a kitchen where the main area is approximately 8.0m x 6.0m.

It is all newly screeded (now dry) with wet UFH.

Concrete substrate, celotex, and 65mm screed on top have all been laid.

Ditra matting will be going on top, then porcelain 10mm tiles.

I'd appreciate advice on how essential movement joints are on a floor like this when the substrate is the same throughout?

I've seen a Ditra video where they tile a similar large floor area with Ditra matting but do not put down any movement joints but then there is no follow up video to show cracks/no cracks!

There is no obvious place to put a movement joint without it being intrusive.

Many thanks in advance!

All the best,

Graham

Ditra and tile away my friend. make sure to leave expansion gap on the edges but apart from that on that size floor you are fine. Would only consider movement joints at points where substrates were different for example where the kitchen floor maybe met the entrance hall.

I wouldn't bother with expansion joints on a floor that size, just leave an expansion gap around the room which will be hidden by skirting.
