From 2:16 in the film below it mentions using horizontal profile along the top and bottom edges of a tiled corner shelf, then tiling the front.

I don't know how common it is to do this; if I search for images of bathroom corner shelves, most don't seem to have profile, just tiles.

Is there some benefit in using such edge profiles? Are they simply decorative?

You really don't want to see a cut tile edge and neatly installed trim is normally favourite
Thanks for the reply.

What about the vertical edge between two tiled walls which I have indicated in the image below with a blue arrow?

Would a metal trim normally also be placed down there?
