Hi all, I hope you're all well. Is it ok to tile on to a marine ply floor? If not, what sub floor are people using over joists these days. Thank you

Ply is usually rubbish , cheap Chinese stuff apparently.
We usually use cement boards like hardibacker .
You can use 6mm glued and screwed to the ply, or use the floor grade hardie straight over the joists and tile

Carpet. I have never really seen nice thresholds before. Been to a house recently and all the floors heights were the same. Rare to find but nice to look at.

Its surprising how thick a carpet plus underlay is, we're probably talking 5mm certainly not more than 10mm higher for tiles and backerboard,, a small slope could be screeded in under the carpet if its still an issue, some sort of thresher would still be needed for carpet to tile transition..

I’ve never understood the thoughts that adding a 6mm tile backer board is too high. I suppose it is if you’ve got old newspapers for underlay and your carpet is the old thin foam backed stuff from the 70’s

Even if you’ve got UFH, 12mm backer board down, the transition is fine. You just work it out in the landing.
