Yes, they definitely compliment one and other. Lasers most definitely have weaknesses yet so do spirit levels.

The Dewalt laser line looks spot on BTW.

I noticed earlier they do the same one with a green beam https://www.screwfix.com/p/dewalt-d...line-green-beam-laser/9873x?_requestid=429447
So going to see if it's any easier to work with, saying that after another day I wonder how I managed previously Lol

Right picked this one up this morningand it is night and day clearer.

Set the two up side by side and the green line is easier to see, but also looking how they fall on my tape measure, the green line is visibly thinner and measures 2mm which is a third thinner than the red at 3mm.
Chuffed with the tripod as well apart from the fact that minimum height is about half a meter.
Certainly making life easier, still using the levels as well, but more for flatness, vertical gaps etc

Bosch compared to the Dewalt DC089D1G

Photos don’t really do it justice. It beats the bosch’s Line at pretty much all ranges. Much brighter, much sharper and covers a far greater distance

I have read through a load of old posts on the same subject so sorry to drag it up again but I have recently bought a dewalt https://www.screwfix.com/p/dewalt-dw088k-self-levelling-line-laser/38474
and I was surprised how wide the line is and not that fussed on the red laszer, I had expected the beam to be a more thin and precice line?
I have spotted this Bosch version too with a green lazer https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bosch-0603..._rd_t=40701&psc=1&refRID=Z2EH4NY32BM065KXWMYR
abd wondered if anyone has any experience of them?

There seems to be a big step up in price from these to the models I have seen some of you guys recommend and I am very interested what the difference would be in jumping up to double or even quadruple the cost, are they really night and day better?

Cheers

You’ll never retire the spirit level in my opinion.

That said, I’ve not used a laser that’s any more than a couple of hundred.

As you’ve already mentioned, the laser line is too thick. Maybe I should look into a better laser. I don’t think I need to yet.

Hi there Steve,
When I first started tile I used a basic but good quality spirit level which seem to be ok to a certain extent. I then decided to spend some dosh and buy one of the three directional Bosch laser systems, it is a great piece of kit and is easy to use....but I had the same problem, that the laser line is too thick so causing some ambiguity on where to set your batons. tile is only one part of my job, I run a Property maintenance business and one of my trades is fitting kitchens. When you’re laid under a kitchen floor cabinet trying to level it, it’s a pain having to keep getting up and down to see where the bubble is on the level. At this point I decided to buy a Bosch digital spirit level with an audible bleeper so you just lay under the cabinet, wind the legs up until it bleeps and it’s perfectly level...ahhh best of both worlds. I now use the Bosch spirit level for tile and find it far more accurate than anything I’ve ever used. I’ve used it on my last couple of tile jobs and can’t sing it’s praises enough. Here’s a link for it, go and have a look it’s definitely worth considering and at half or a third of the price of a decent laser. They come in a 600mm or 1200mm versions. https://www.screwfix.com/p/bosch-gi...gclsrc=aw.ds&dclid=CMXfpfCTyt0CFQbg1QodysoN8Q

I was so impressed with them that I bought both sizes. Let me know your thoughts and what you decide to go with.

Regards Dave

That's interesting Dave and something I hadn't considered before, the bleep function would be useful levelling baths ans shower trays too :)
I am more plumber than tiler too :)

Pssssst........I think I understand the ‘in’ joke...assuming Marc didn’t get said box or innovative foam cut out system when he got his laser?!

OK back on topic. Is there an accessories you can buy to easily adjust the height of this laser, small adjustments Mainly.

Get an adjustable pole, they don't take up much room when your in ,shall we say 'snug' bathrooms/on-suites

Regarding the adjustment, my Bosch laser had an excellent bracket that allowed up to 100mm adjustment by turning the knob on the side. It works really well. I was hoping the Dewalt had something similar.

You can see the adjuster here:-

I also have the green DeWalt laser above and it totally changed my tile life. I've achieved things I would never acheive with just spirit levels. For a professional tiler with many years of work, I always try and invest in the best I can. The cheap lasers aren't accurate enough either.
Using the laser this week I have been preparing a floor for underfloor heating and it was terrible, as much as 35mm out of level across a large room of over 30sqm. I've got the floor level to within 2mm. You can't do that with a spirit level
Hey mate I also have the DeWalt green laser. I’ve been struggling with precise floor levelling and would love to hear your process if you have 5 mins to run through it?!
